We all know that stretching is important, but the correct way to perform those stretches is not typically taught in today’s fitness classes. In Friday afternoon Stretch, professional ballet dancer/instructor, Katerina Lubek’s emphasis is on precision. Her method is based on years of classical ballet and gymnastics training, and integrates a series of unique Pilates and gymnastic stretches with physical therapy stretches that professional dancers employ every day. Set in a beautiful, serene setting -- at the Margaret Pace Park water’s edge -- Katerina’s stretch class begins with a 15 minute warm-up that includes a variation of abs, arms and glute exercises. (Prepare to sweat! Even with the cool Biscayne Bay breezes!) Following the warm up, Katerina’s masterly designed stretch technique offers students at every level of fitness:
-The ability to develop a toned, strong, long and lean dancer’s body
- Improved whole body flexibility and agility
- Improved posture and body alignment
- Lower back pain relief
- Enhanced endurance and overall body performance
- Superior post work-out recovery
- Eventual preparation of the body for splits
Every Friday 4:30-5:30pm if weather permits
